The Dordt Defenders will face Campbellsville (Kentucky) on Friday, March 18 at 6:00 PM at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa in a NAIA National Championship Round of 16 contest. Fans are encouraged to wear black for the contest.

“I chose to commit to Dordt for its Christian based education and exceptional biology/pre-med program. I am also excited about helping contribute to the women’s soccer program,” said Worthy.
(Tuesday, March 15; Sioux Center, Iowa) The CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) Womens’ Basketball Academic All-Americans have been announced for the 2021-22 season and Dordt’s Ashtyn Veerbeek (Junior; Sioux Center, Iowa) has earned a spot on the second-team in voting done by the members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America.
(Wednesday, March 16, 2022; Sioux Center, Iowa) Derrek Vander Leest, a senior at Sioux Falls Christian (South Dakota), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender cross country and track programs.
“I chose Dordt because of the emphases on faith development. Along with excellent academics I have a ton of respect for Coach Wolf and Coach Heynen and am eager to be a part of an excellent program,” said Vander Leest.

“I chose to commit to Dordt University because of the warm and welcoming spirit of the team and coaching staff and how they encourage our relationship with God to come first in our lives,” said Struble.

(Tuesday, March 15; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Great Plains Athletic Conference and Hauff Mid-America Sports have announced the softball pitcher-of-the-week for games played March 7-13, 2022 and Dordt’s Abby Kraemer (Junior, Alta, Iowa) has earned the honor.
Kraemer posted a 0.55 earned run average while going 3-0 on the mound with another two saves in five appearances. She pitched 25 and 2/3 innings with 25 strikeouts and two earned runs allowed. One of her wins was over no. 8 rated Indiana Wesleyan and another win was a decision over Saint Xavier (receiving votes).

(Monday, March 14; Sioux Center, Iowa) Ashtyn Veerbeek (Junior; Sioux Center, Iowa) scored 16 points against IU East on Friday afternoon, March 11 in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round and became the 18th women’s basketball player in Dordt history to score 1,000 career points for the Defenders.
The Dordt Defender men’s volleyball team will travel to Jamestown, North Dakota to play the Jamestown Jimmies in GPAC action on Monday, March 14. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7:00.
Dordt def. Sterling 66-65
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defenders earned a trip to the round of 16 in the NAIA National Championship with a slight 66-65 win over Sterling (Kansas) that wasn’t secured until a shot at the buzzer from the free throw line came up short by Sterling.
Dordt will play Sterling (Kansas) in the second round of the NAIA National Championship on Saturday, March 12 in Park City, Kansas at 3:00 pm.
Dordt will play Viterbo and Trinity Christian on Saturday, March 12 in Lacrosse, Wisconsin. The Defenders play Trinity Christian at 3:00 and are scheduled to play Viterbo at 5:30.
Stations of the Cross is a new exhibit that will be on display in the Dordt University Art Gallery, which is located in the Ribbens Academic Complex. A partnership between Campus Ministries and the Art and Design Department, the exhibit highlights the 12 stations of the cross and features the work of Scott Erickson, a touring painter, performance speaker, and creative curate.
100 percent of Dordt University’s class of 2021 were employed or were accepted into graduate school within six months of graduation. This statistic is based off a knowledge rate of 98 percent, which means that there were only six students from the entire graduating class that Career Development was unable to connect with following commencement.
“We are so pleased with the outcomes for our graduates,” says Amy Westra, associate director of career development. “This data shows the hard work and dedication of Dordt students and also the value of a Dordt education.”
Dordt will play two doubleheaders on Thursday and Friday, March 10 and 11 in Florida to conclude a 10-game week. The Defenders face Judson (Illinois) on Thursday starting at 8:15 AM and will play Hannibal LaGrange on Friday starting at 10:00.
(Wednesday, March 9, 2022; Sioux Center, Iowa) Lauren Dunsbergen, a senior at Pella Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the dance program.
Dordt will travel to Park City, Kansas to play in the Opening Round of the NAIA National Championship. First round play will be on Friday, March 11 and the second round is on Saturday, March 12. Dordt will play IU-East in the first round at 2:00 while the first game at noon on Friday features Sterling vs Eastern Oregon.
