(Wednesday, October 13; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt Defender volleyball team is rated no. 16 in the most recent NAIA Coaches’ Poll released on Wednesday, October 13.
The Defenders are up two spots after posting a pair of wins last week in league play. Dordt is currently 12-6 overall and 4-5 in the GPAC with seven regular season matches remaining.
“At the midpoint in our season, each position that we can improve in the national rankings is important. Bigger than our national rankings is the challenge of seeking daily growth and improvement in our practice gym. I’m encouraged by the continued efforts of our players to seek out development opportunities and strive for ways that they can help our team compete at a higher level. This season is the first time in 11 seasons that I’ve been coaching here, where the GPAC has nine teams represented in the poll--that is incredible and speaks to the caliber of teams that we face each night,” said Dordt volleyball coach Chad Hanson.
The GPAC is well represented with Jamestown (1), Midland (6), Northwestern (14), College of Saint Mary (10), Dakota Wesleyan (15) and Doane (23) all in the top-25 with Dordt and Concordia and Hastings are both receiving votes.
Dordt will host Mount Marty on Friday night and the College of Saint Mary on Saturday, October 16 in its next play.
