(Thursday, February 18; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt Defender women’s cross country is fourth in the latest edition of the Women’s Cross Country Coaches’ Top 25 Poll released on Thursday, February 18.
The Defenders took 494 points in the balloting done by coaches representing each of the conferences in the NAIA. Taylor (Indiana) moved into the top spot with 560 points. Dordt is 22 points behind Milligan (Tennessee) and seven points in front of Huntington (Indiana).
“It seems strange to see NAIA Cross Country rankings in the spring. However, this spring will be the conclusion of our COVID-19 altered 2020 cross country season. There will be some movement for both the men and the women as teams start to compete for the first time and as team rosters come into focus for the second half of this unique season. We are looking forward to finishing up our indoor track and field season and then prepping for the cross country national meet in April!” said Dordt coach Nate Wolf.
Other GPAC members in the poll include Morningside (20), Northwestern (25) and Concordia (Receiving Votes).
There will be another NAIA poll released on March 15 and the 2020 NAIA Cross Country National Championship will be run on April 9 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
