Men's Soccer Plays Jamestown In Noon Start Saturday

The Defender men’s soccer team will host Jamestown on Saturday, October 17 at 12:00 pm in  GPAC play at Sioux Center, Iowa.

THE FOE…

Midland is 1-4 in men’s play and 1-3 in the GPAC. Teams have outscored the Jimmies 19-8 this season and outshot the Jimmies on goal 42-20.  Ruben Zepeda has four goals scored and Diego Valle has three. Alex Hamer has played 360 minutes in goal and has 13 goals allowed for a 3.25 average.   Jamestown’s win this season is a 3-1 decision over Doane.  The Jimmies also played to a 3-2 loss to Midland in their opener on September 17.

THE DEFENDERS…

Dordt is 3-7 overall and 2-5 in the league after back to back wins over Presentation and Mount Marty and losses to Morningside and Midland in their last four games. Blake Hansen leads the Defenders with four goals and Quintin Olson and Luke Foster each have two goals scored. Brandon Hansen has played 821 minutes in goal and has been charged with 19 goals for a 2.08 goals allowed average and he has 66 saves and ranks 9th in the NAIA in saves per game with 7.33 and 1st in total saves.

RECENTLY…

Dordt allowed a goal in the 12th minute against Midland and then had to battle from behind.  Dordt kept it at 1-0 until the 57th minute when Midland snuck one through and that led to a 5-0 loss. Hansen had six saves and faced 11 shots on goal while Midland’s defense held Dordt to three total shots.

Bellevue beat Jamestown 6-0 on October 14 and had an 8-0 shots on goal advantage and an overall 14-6 shots edge. Bellevue scored in the 16th, 18th and 29th minutes to lead 3-0 at halftime.

THE SERIES…

Jamestown leads the series 3-7-1 with the tie happening last season when the teams battled to a scoreless tie in 110 minutes. Jamestown had a 9-6 shots on goal advantage and Seth Lewison made nine saves for Dordt.

Dordt is on the road against Northwestern on Wednesday, October 21 and is at Doane on Saturday, October 24.
