Men's Soccer To Battle Midland In Fremont

The Defender men’s soccer team will travel to Fremont, Nebraska on Wednesday, October 14 in GPAC play against Midland.  The contest will begin at 7:30 pm.





Spectator Guidelines


Midland is 1-0 this season and hasn’t played since September 17 when the Warriors beat Jamestown 3-2.

In the game with Jamestown the Warriors outshot the Jimmies 7-5 on goal and three different players scored one goal each. Matthew Ricci played 90 minutes in goal and had three saves.

Last year’s Midland team was 13-5-2 and finished the year 8-1-1 in the GPAC.  Midland advanced to the NAIA National Championship where the Warriors were beaten by Grand View in the opening round.


Dordt is 3-6 overall and 2-4 in the league after back to back wins over Presentation and Mount Marty and a loss to Morningside in the last three games. Blake Hansen leads the Defenders with four goals and Quintin Olson and Luke Foster each have two goals scored. Brandon Hansen has played 556 minutes in goal and has been charged with 10 goals for a 1.39 goals allowed average and he has 60 saves and ranks 9th in the NAIA in saves per game with 7.5.


Morningside beat Dordt 4-0 on Saturday with the Mustangs outshooting Dordt 14-6.  Brandon Hansen had 10 saves for the Defenders.  The Mustangs got a goal in the 32nd minute and again in the 40th minute to take control of the game.


Dordt lost to Midland on November 2 by a 3-2 score.  Zach Froehlich had a goal in the 36th minute to break up a scoreless tie but Midland strung together three goals in a row in the 4th, 47th and 49th minutes.  Patrick Munsey scored near the end of regulation to make the final 3-2.  Dordt was outhshot on goal 13-2 with Seth Lewison making 10 saves for the Defenders.

Midland leads the series 13-7.


Dordt will host Jamestown on Saturday before going on the road to face Northwestern on October 21.
