(Thursday, September 10; Sioux Center, Iowa)  The Great Plains Athletic Conference and Hauff Mid-America Sports have announced the Cross Country Runners-of-the-Week for September 5-6.  Dordt’s Taylor Anema earns the award this week.

Anema ran an 18:37 at the Dordt Sunflower Opener on Saturday, September 5 and finished fourth overall on the 5,000 meter course. Anema was competing in her first collegiate cross country meet and she helped Dordt to a team title with 28 points.

“Taylor ran a very strong first meet of her college career.  She was patient at the start of the race and aggressive over the last half.  It was a quality field of unattached NCAA D1 runners and GPAC runners that she was able to gain valuable experience racing against.  It is great for Taylor’s effort to be recognized in this way,” said Dordt cross country coach Nate Wolf.

The Defenders have a week off and resume competition on Saturday, September 19 at the Morningside Invite in McCook Lake, South Dakota.
