(Wednesday, June 17; Sioux Center, Iowa) Mikaela Wegner, a student at the University of King's College, has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defenders soccer program.
"We are really excited to be adding Mikaela to our program. She is an individual who will continue to push this program forward and be a great fit with our girls," said Dordt women's soccer coach Alex Durbin.
Wegner posted an 81.6 save percentage at King's and attended Edmonton Christian High School where she earned MVP honors.
"I’m excited to play soccer and finish my major in an enviroment that everyday encourages me to draw closer to God," said Wegner.
Mikaela is the daughter of Koreen and Elvin Wegner of Edmonton, Alberta. She plans to study Journalism at Dordt.
Dordt University in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian university rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
