(Friday, March 13; Sioux Center, Iowa) The 2019-20 CoSIDA Academic All-America teams have been announced and Dordt’s Erika Feenstra (Junior; Hull, Iowa) has earned first-team honors.  Feenstra was named a second-team honoree in 2019.

Feenstra, a second-team pick as a sophomore, claims the honor after averaging a team high 17.6 points per game with 5.9 rebounds and she converted 60.4 percent of her field goals this season. Feenstra currently ranks second all-time in points scored and 16th in career rebounds.  She’s studying Health & Human Performance/Exercise Science and has maintained a 3.98 grade point average during her career.

“This is the most prestigious honor an athlete can receive at our level,” said Dordt’s sports information director and CoSIDA member Mike Byker.  “This award is voted on by sports information directors across the country and takes into account playing ability and academic results.”

Five NAIA players were named to the first-team and five to the second-team in the voting completed at the conclusion of the regular season.  The women’s first-team honorees have an average grade point average of 3.92 and all 10 members have a 3.93 average grade point average.

Feenstra helped lead the Defenders to a program best season record of 24-8 and a second-straight berth at the NAIA Division II National Basketball Championship.
