Dordt travels to Ottawa, Kansas and Park, Missouri for a pair of league matches on Friday and Saturday, February 28 and 29. The match at Ottawa begins at 7:00 Friday night and the Saturday afternoon match is at 1:00.
Ottawa is 6-5 this season and 0-3 in league play with losses to Missouri Baptist and Park (twice).

Hiago Crins and Felipe Guirau lead the team with 3.38 and 3.14 kills per set and Hiago has a .357 kill efficiency. Luicano Bucci is putting up 10.9 assists per set and Gabriel Soares tops the team with eight service aces and 2.45 kills per outing. Leandro Limais the leading digger with a 3.0 average and he has four service aces.
The Defenders are 4-6 this season and 0-4 in the conference configuration.
Dordt is averaging 10.47 kills per set with a .174 kill efficiency and the Defenders are getting to 9.84 digs per outing with 2.28 points per set recorded on blocks. Dordt also has 44 service aces this season and average 1.16 per set. Teams are hitting .174 against the Defenders and have recorded 38 total aces against the Defenders this year.
Garret Vander Zee is tops on the team with a 4.21 kills per set average to go with a .214 kill efficiency. Caleb Kulesza is putting down 2.45 kills per set and he has a .182 kill efficiency. Brandon Vaags is good for 1.15 kills per set and Shavon Barker, Luke Nelson and Adam Van Elburg all average just under a block per set. Dordt and Park played three times last season with the Pirates securing a pair of 3-0 wins and a 3-1 decions. The first match was played February 2 in Parkville, Missouri and was decided by scores of 25-15, 25-20, 25-16. Garret Vander Zee had a team high nine kills in the loss and Tyler Postma put up 21 assists. Andrea Maggio had 12 kills and Felipe Guirau added 11 with Luciano Bucci putting up 44 assists.
On March 23 the two teams clashed in Sioux Center and Dordt won set one 25-19 before dropping the next three 25-19, 25-14, 25-11. Ben Tiemersma had nine kills and Postma had 11 assists for the Defenders. Guirau had 15 kills in the win and Bucci accounted for 48 assists.
The two teams met again on March 30 in post-season play and Park was a 25-17, 25-18, 25-13 winner. Guirau had 12 kills and Tiemersma 11 to pace their respective teams.
Dordt and Ottawa played twice last season with the Braves winning 3-0 in Sioux Center on February 1 and 3-1 on March 21 in Ottawa. In the match at Sioux Center the Braves were 25-21, 26-24, 25-13 winners with Tiemersma recording 10 kills and Vander Zee nine while Postma put up 24 assists. Ashan Jordan recorded 13 kills for the Braves. When the teams played in Ottawa Dordt took a 27-25 win in set one before falling 25-16, 25-21, 25-16. Tiemersma accounted for 17 kills and Vander Zee 13 and Austin Clark put up 20 assists. Ottawa got 17 kills rom PJ Tulikihihifo and Bryce Thompson put up 40 assists.
Briar Cliff beat Dordt 25-20, 25-20, 25-21 on Tuesday night with Caleb Kulesza getting 10 kills and Postma 23 assists.
Missouri Baptist beat Ottawa on February 26 by a 25-16, 25-21, 25-21 margin. Tyler Gardenhire had seven kills and Troy Lance added six. Jacob Frederick had 22 assists and Aseah Thomas got to five digs.
Park’s last action was a 25-15, 25-19, 25-16 win at home against Ottawa. Alves had 13 kills and Crins 11 with Bucci putting up 46 assists in the win.
The Defenders will be at Jamestown on March 6 before hosting Lincoln (Illinois) on Saturday, March 7.
