Dordt’s women swept Dakota Wesleyan this season with a pair of narrow wins. Dordt won November 13, 88-86 and prevailed at the Corn Palace 74-70.  In the November contest at Sioux Center the Defenders survived a fast start by the Tigers that saw them grab a 13 point lead early and a 30-27 lead at the end of the first quarter. Dordt trailed much of the third quarter before taking an 83-79 lead on a Kreykes basket with 4:05 left in the game. Wesleyan came back with five straight to regain the lead but the Defenders converted a pair of late free throws to seal the win.  Cheeseman had 26 for the Tigers in the loss and 12 assists and Carr added 16. Bailey Beckman had a team high 21 for the Defenders and Gustafson scored 20 with 11 rebounds.

The Dordt-Dakota Wesleyan winner will face the Concordia-Midland winner on Saturday in the women’s semifinals.  If Concordia wins the Bulldogs would host.  If Midland wins it would travel to either Sioux Center or Mitchell.   The other quarterfinals feature Northwestern @ Morningside and Jamestown @ Hastings.
