(Wednesday, November 6; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt Defender volleyball team is 22nd in this week’s NAIA Top-25 Coaches’ Poll voted on by 21 coaches from across the country.
Dordt has an 18-9 record after splitting its play last weekend in Nebraska with a loss to Hastings and a win over Doane. The Defenders stand 18-10 after a 3-2 loss to Midland on Wednesday night in Sioux Center. The loss puts Dordt in fifth place in the GPAC. Midland entered the week 21st in the poll.
The Defenders took 142 points in the polling and are one of five GPAC teams in the top-25. Northwestern (1), Jamestown (8), Concordia (16) and Midland (21) are the other teams from the league in the poll and the College of Saint Mary is the in the “Others Receiving Votes” category of the poll.
““We are pleased to be positioned in the top 25 as we wrap up the conference schedule and prepare for the conference tournament. The primary competitive goal for us right now is to win. With strong competition ahead of us, we will prepare fully for each day and look forward to seeing how our season will continue,” said Dordt coach Chad Hanson.
Dordt and Midland will play again in the GPAC Quarterfinals on Saturday night in Fremont, Nebraska. Match time is at 7:00 with the winner facing the winner of the Northwestern-College of Saint Mary match on Wednesday night, November 13.
