The Broncos are 2-5 this season and 1-5 in the GPAC with a win over Jamestown 38-21 to open the GPAC schedule back on September 14. The Broncos also have a 40-22 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State that was in the season opener on August 31. Hastings’s losses are to Concordia (44-0), Doane (37-12), Morningside (69-13), Midland (61-20) and Briar Cliff (32-0).
The Broncos average 112 yards on the ground per game and 193 passing for 305 yards of offense per game. Teams are running for 192 yards per game and passing for 223 for 415 yards per game on average. The Hastings offense is averaging 17 points per game and allowing 41 points per game.
Isaiah Jackson is 82-179 passing for 992 yards and five touchdowns with seven interceptions. John Zamora is 27-60 passing for 301 yards and two scores. Brett Simonson is the top ground gainer with 89 carries for 429 yards and two touchdwns and Jesse Ulrich has 55 carries for 219 yards and three touchdowns. Keiotey Stenhouse has a team high 44 catches for 13.8 yards per catch and three scores. Riley Ostendorf has 21 catches for an 11.5 yards per catch average and Brenton Bell has 18 catches with a 9.0 yards per catch average.
Jason Bachle is 12-13 on point after tries and he is 7-10 on field goals with a long of 45 yards. Ryan Hunter handles the punting and has a 35.4 yards per punt average with a long of 56.
Tydus Clay has 19 solo and 30 assisted tackles to lead the Broncos and he ahs an interception. Abdul Marei has been in on 35 tackles and he has four sacks. DaeRon Jones has three interceptions and Chris Rodriguez has 25 tackles. The Broncos have forced 10 turnovers and the offense has given the football up 16 times.
Dordt is 5-3 this season with a 34-21 loss to Keiser (Florida) to open the season and a 30-9 win over Waldorf the following week. Dordt also faced defending NAIA National Champion Morningside and lost a 56-14 decision to the Mustangs before going on the road to Jamestown and earning a 41-6 win. Dordt made it two wins in a row on September 28 with a 57-22 home win against Dakota Wesleyan. After a bye week the Defenders were tripped up by Northwestern on October 12, 35-6. The Defenders got back to their winning ways with a 61-0 win over Doane two weeks ago and followed that with a 35-0 win over Concordia on October 26.
The Defenders have run for 325 yards per game and passed for 120 yards per outing. Teams have gained 174 yards on the ground per game against Dordt and have passed for 163.
Levi Schoonhoven has run for 798 yards on 123 carries and has a 6.5 yards per carry average with six touchdowns. Noah Clayberg has 591 yards on the ground and has a 6.9 yards per carry average. Carter Schiebout has a 5.4 yards per carry average and 375 yards rushing and Tyler Reynolds has 256 yards and five touchdowns.
Reynolds has completed 17-29 passes with three touchdowns and Clayberg has completed 35-80 passes for four touchdowns and 516 yards. Jake Dodge has 15 catches for a 12.1 yards per catch average with two scores. Levi Jungling has 18 catches for a 13.7 yards per catch average and Ben Heuvelhorst has nine catches for 23.7 yards per catch while Lucas Warner and Levi Schoonhoven each have four catches.
On defense Dordt is led by Josh Mrazek has 58 tackles with an interception and 8.5 tackles for loss. Elliott Van Kekerix has 41 tackles and Jalen Placide has 28 tackles and Nathan Kabongo 28. Connor Bosma has 32 tackles with three interceptions. David Kacmarynski has been in on 38 tackles this season with 15.5 tackles for loss and five sacks. Placide is tied with Bosma for the team interception lead with three.
Brett Zachman is 27-34 on point after tries and 4-7 on field goals with a long of 36. Jake Dodge was handling the punting and has a 36.3 average on 21 attempts but he was injured against Concordia. If Dodge can’t punt Noah Clayberg has four punts this season for a 49.3 average.
Morningside remains the no. 1 team in the NAIA Coaches’ Poll while Northwestern is no. 5. Dordt is in the receiving votes category of the poll.
Hastings played Briar Cliff in Sioux City on October 26 and lost a 32-0 decision. Hastings was outgained 364-191 and Briar Cliff led 20-0 at halftime with scoring drives of 51, 77 and 80 yards. Simonsen gained 67 yards on 11 carries and Jackson was 6-13 passing for 58 yards. Stenhouse had three receptions for 48 yards. Hastings committed four turnovers and forced one in the loss.
Dordt controlled its game with Concordia on Saturday with a 35-0 win. Dordt scored 28 points in the first half on drives of 79, 36, 42 and 10 yards and held Concordia to 170 yards of total offense and just 34 yards on the ground. Carter Schiebout had 10 carries for 101 yards and Noah Clayberg had 20 carries for 82 yards. Clayberg also completed 12-25 passes for 132 yards and Levi Jungling had nine catches for 92 yards. David Kacmarynski and Josh Mrazek led the defense with Mrazek getting 13 tackles and Kacmarynski had three tackles for loss and two sacks.
Dordt secured its third win in a row in the series last season with a 55-17 win on the road against Hastings. The Defenders scored 24 points in the second quarter and led 45-17 after the third quarter on the way to the 38 point win. Dordt outgained Hastings 431-286 and ran for 370 yards while limiting Hastings to 110 yards on the ground. Levi Schoonhoven ran 23 times for 183 yards and Charley Young had 13 carries for 73 yards. Keithen Drury also had 15 carries for 73 yards and Leiv Jungling had two catches for 23 yards. Tahj Willingham had 26 carries for 117 yards for the Broncos and Clark Livingston was 11-21 passing with two interceptions.

Dordt is scheduled to host Briar Cliff next weekend before concluding the season at home against Midland on November 16.
Hastings will go to Northwestern on Saturday, November 9 in its next game.
