Connelly Takes Weekly Honor

(Wednesday, October 8; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Great Plains Athletic Conference ad Hauff Mid-America Sports have announced its volleyball players-of-the-week for contests played September 30-October 6.  Hannah Connelly (Junior; McCook Lake, South Dakota) was accorded defensive-player-of-the-week honors for her play in a couple of Defender wins.

Connelly averaged nearly six digs per set in the Defenders’ wins. In Dordt’s upset of no. 12 Grand View Connelly had 28 digs and was a perfect on serve receptions. In fact, Connelly was a perfect 24-24 in serve receive.  Connelly is averaging a team high 4.51 digs per set and has handled 96 percent of her serve receptions cleanly and has nine service aces.

“Hannah has had a wonderful season in the libero role and competed well in digging and passing. She covers great court area and provides strong continuity in each of our rotations. This honor is well deserved,” said Dordt coach Chad Hanson.

Dordt is currently 13-6 this season and is 4-3 in conference play. The Defenders will host Mount Marty on Wednesday night, October 9 before hosting Dakota Wesleyan on Saturday, October 12.
