The Dordt University Football program is looking for families to serve the incoming freshman class as part of the Host-A-Player program. Host families provide support to student-athletes through meals, church invitations, support at games, birthday well-wishes, care packages, or any other way they feel led to host.

“My host family has cooked me countless meals, given me haircuts, taken me to church, and let me play video games with their kids,” says Ben Huevelhorst, a Dordt football player. “Most importantly, they have made me truly feel like a part of their family, and I know that they are going to be lifelong friends of mine!”

Host families are invited to a luncheon to kick off the program where the families and students have an opportunity to meet and get to know one another.

“Our goal is to pair each player with a host family,” says Joel Penner, head football coach. “We believe this is a unique way to show our players how involved the Sioux Center community is in our football program.”
