Dordt University invites the community to attend the annual Prairie Walk on June 25, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. The walk will be led by Dr. Robert De Haan, professor of environmental studies, with the help of Dordt students Tristan Van Leeuwen, Marti Sutton, and Kendall Van Zanten.
“I will give a brief history of the prairie, discuss current management activities (including the spring burn), and we will spend some time walking the prairie, identifying and learning about the plants we see,” Dr. De Haan says.
The walk will begin at the south end of the prairie, near the windmill on the former Kuhl farm site. Color handouts illustrating the most visible species in the prairie will be provided. Dr. De Haan invites the community to ask questions about prairie species, management, and care.
This event is free and open to the public.
