Dordt will play a pair of triangulars against Hastings and Mount Marty on Friday and Saturday, April 19 and 20.

The Lancers are 19-16 under long time coach Andy Bernatow and they stand 11-9 in the GPAC.  The Lancers took four in a row from Briar Cliff in their most recent games on April 13 and 14 as those four games snapped a three game losing skid.

Alex Martin leads the Lancers with a .378 batting average with 17 hits in 17 games played. Artie Gallegos is batting .368 with 25 hits and has 12 runs batted in and 17 runs scored. Justin Miller and Colin Muth have 41 and 32 hits each and Miller is batting .353 with 27 runs scored and 19 runs batted in and is one of four Lancers with two homeruns.  Drue Soukup has 13 stolen bases this season in 15 attempts.

Nick Iossi is 4-1 on the hill with a 2.25 earned run average. He’s pitched 28 innings and has pitched 14 times in relief. Blake Svoboda is 6-2 this season with a 2.90 earned run average in 49 innings pitched with 77 strikeouts.

The Broncos are 7-25 overall and 2-17 in the GPAC.

Hastings is led by Camden Brichacek with a .317 batting average and he has 32 hits and two homeruns with 17 runs batted in. Dylan Fitzgerald is batting .294 with 30 hits and four doubles and Tino Zach hs 28 hits and five doubles.

Devin Wagenor is 2-2 this season with 33 innings pitched and a 6.95 earned run average. Grant Svec is 1-6 with a 6.38 earned run average and has pitched 42 innings with 30 strikeouts. Wagoner has a team high 52 strikeouts.  Austin Vitosh and Keegan Thurston have pitched 30 and 22 innings each.


Dordt is 5-21 this season and 2-17 in the GPAC after losing a game to Northwestern on Monday night, April 15. The second game of that doubleheader was suspended at the conclusion of the second game and will be resumed on Monday, April 22 at 5:00.

Logan Cline leads the team with a .372 batting average and has a team high 35 hits with five doubles, three triples and 20 runs batted in. Dillon Branderhorst has 16 hits with a .254 batting average and has 13 runs batted in with five doubles.  Cam Pfafman has 17 hits and Jason Holwerda has 16 hits along with Jason Haolwerda. Steve Tiersma has a .333 in 20 games played.

Isaac Vander Hart has pitched 27 innings and has a 2-2 record in six starts with a 4.55 earned run average and has 21 strikeouts. Isaac Buteyn has a team high 28 strikeouts in 23 innings pitched and Logan Horne and Luke Drooger have pitched 23 and 24 innings each and Drooger has 21 strikeouts.


Dordt played Mount Marty on the last two dates of the season in 2018.  Mount Marty took a 2-1 and 7-5 sweep on April 27 with Dordt bouncing back for a 13-1 win to start the April 28 doubleheader. Mount Marty then took the final game of the doubleheaders by a 10-3 score.

The Defenders lost a pair of Hastings on April 9, 2018 by scores of 12-0 and 6-0. Svec was the winner in the opener with six strikeouts for Hastings and allowed five hits. Isaac Vander Hart was the pitcher of record in game two and allowed one earned run on six hits and struck out three while going five innings.


Dordt is scheduled to host Northwestern on Monday, April 22 in a resumption of their suspended game from last Monday with Dordt leading 6-2 in the top of the third inning. Dordt is scheduled to go to Yankton on Tuesday, April 23 for a single, nine-inning game that’s a non-conference contest against Mount Marty.  Dordt concludes the season with a pair of doubleheaders at Concordia on Friday and Saturday, April 26 and 27.
