Dordt College senior Amber Ybema will be displaying a collection of artwork in the Dordt Art Gallery in the Campus Center from April 9 to April 17, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. A reception for the gallery will be on Monday, April 15, from 7 to 8 p.m.
The artwork features graphic design and illustrative works, as well as drawings and paintings completed in various classes at Dordt while working alongside her Art: Pre-Architecture major.
“As someone who is interested in interior design and architecture, I like to incorporate structure and geometrical shapes into my artworks,” says Ybema. “This, and my appreciation for minimalistic design elements, makes up most of my artistic style.”
Amber’s artwork shows elements that inspire her.
“Much of my inspiration comes from the many important people in my life as well as places I have traveled, i.e. my roommates and my home state of Michigan,” says Ybema. “I appreciate finding joy in these moments and portray that through my art.”
