Van Eps Earns GPAC Weekly Honor

(Wednesday, April 10; Sioux Center, Iowa)  The Great Plains Athletic Conference Athletes-of-the-Week for competitions March 31-April 6 has been announced and for the second time this season Dordt’s Matthew Van Eps (Sophomore; Prinsburg, Minnesota) earned the honor.

Van Eps finished second in the 800 meters in a season best time of 1:53.67 and has the 11th fastest time in the NAIA currently and the fastest time in the GPAC.  Earlier in the meet Van Eps ran a leg on the 4x800 team that won the event and met the automatic National Meet qualification standard with a time of 7:43.64.  The time is the third fastest in the nation and is the fastest time in the GPAC.

Dordt is scheduled to run in the Sioux City Relays this weekend before competing in the Red Raider Open on April 17 and 18.  The GPAC Championships are scheduled for May 3 and 4 and the NAIA National Championships will be May 23-25 at Gulf Shores, Alabama.
