On April 12, nearly 400 band students from nine Christian high schools in Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, and South Dakota will come to Dordt to participate in the biennial high school band festival. The day will conclude with a mass concert  at 7 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium and the mass band performance in the De Witt Gymnasium.

High schools include Rapid City Christian (Rapid City, South Dakota), Central Minnesota Christian (Prinsburg, Minnesota), Covenant Christian (Grand Rapids, Michigan), Heritage Christian (Dyer, Indiana), Sioux Falls Christian (Sioux Falls, South Dakota), Southwest Minnesota Christian (Edgerton, Minnesota), Trinity Christian (Hull, Iowa), Unity Christian (Orange City, Iowa), and Western Christian (Hull, Iowa).

While at the festival, bands perform both individually and as a mass band. Dordt music faculty and members of the Gaudete Brass Quintet will lead masterclasses and sectionals in the afternoon prior to the mass band rehearsal. The interim director of the Dordt College Concert Band, Dr. Daniel Baldwin, and two members of Gaudete Brass will also work with individual bands in coaching sessions in the morning. Dordt music students participate in the mass band in the evening.

The evening concert is free and open to the public.
