(Thursday, March 28; Sioux Center, Iowa) Josh Van Hulzen, a senior at South Central Calhoun High School (Iowa), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender track and field program.
Van Hulzen has personal bests of 15.11 in the 110 high hurdles and has performed in the sprint relays and shuttle hurdle relays. He's qualified for the state meet in the shuttle hurdle twice, high hurdles once and the 4x100 twice. He's earned Academic All-Conference honors in both track and football and was a part of two district champions in track and field and helped South Central Calhoun to a fifth place finish in the Class 2A State Meet.
"I am glad that Josh has chosen Dordt to further his education and to participate in track and field. Josh is a solid hurdler with good potential to improve. We look forward to working with him next year," said Dordt track and field coach Craig Heynen.
Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
