Volleyball Concludes Home Season Tonight

Dordt will host Morningside on Wednesday, March 27 at 7:00.  The match will be available on and results will be posted at and and also at after the match is complete.  


Morningside is 5-17 this season and 1-10 in the league.

Scott Tschetter’s team is led by Jackson Presha with a 2.62 kills per set average and Ryan Coyle is good for 2.29 kills and Jimmy Aschenbrenner is at 2.07 kills per outing. Tommy Looper and Jake Brand average 1.78 and 1.43 kills  per set in a very balanced attack. Caden Toben puts up 8.77 assists per set and Coyle tops the team with 27 ace serves.

The Mustangs are averaging 10.64 kills per set while allowing 12.11 and the Mustangs surrender 1.88 points per set on blocks while giving up 1.53.


The Defenders are 5-14 this season and stand 1-10 in the American Midwest/Great Plains/Kansas league.

Ben Tiemersma is averaging 3.74 kills per set with a .224 kill efficiency and he has seven solo and 22 assisted blocks. Garrett Vander Zee has a 2.92 kills per set average and he gets to 1.7 digs per set. Shavon Barker’s kill average is 1.08 and he has 42 assisted blocks and eight solo blocks. Tyler Postma averages 6.9 assists per set and has seven solo and 25 assisted blocks and he averages 1.52 digs per outing. Austin Clark has a 5.88 assists per set average and Austen Scammon leads the team with 3.25digs per set.

Dordt averages 9.89 kills per set and allows 12.86.  Dordt gets 1.82 points per set on blocks and allow 1.67. Teams have 86 ace serves against the Defenders and Dordt has 57 aces this season.


Dordt will play in American Midwest/Great Plains/Kansas tournament play on date and against a team to be announced.


Dordt lost to Morningside in Sioux City by set scores of 27-29, 25-17, 26-24, 25-20 on February 13.

Tiemersma had 19 kills in the loss and Vander Zee had 12.  Brand and Aschenbrenner each had 15 kills and Toben put up 59 assists.  Morningside had a 7-3 ace serve edge in the match.
