Dordt will travel to face Doane in Crete, Nebraska. The GPAC doubleheader will begin at 1:00 PM. The games were originally scheduled to be played in Sioux Center, Iowa last weekend but were moved due to unplayable field conditions.
Doane is 8-14 this season and 4-2 in the GPAC. The Tigers split with Mount Marty on March 24 and swept Hastings on March 17 in GPAC action.
Aaron Mason is batting .408 this season with 31 hits and seven doubles and he has a pair of homeruns. Trent Jeary is batting .368 with 25 hits and seven doubles with tow homeruns. Eduardo Yanez has a team high five homeruns and has knocked in 18 runs. Jeary is the team leader in runs scored with 20 and Mason has nine stolen bases.
Bero Bradley is 3-0 this season with a 5.14 earned run average and he has a team high 34 strikeouts in 28 innings pitched. Lukas White is 2-2 with a 4.76 earned run average and has 17 strikeouts in 22 innings pitched.
Dordt is 3-10 this season and 0-6 in the GPAC after losing a pair to Dakota Wesleyan on Friday.
Logan Cline has had a hot start to the season with a .469 batting average and has a team high 23 hits with four doubles, two triples and and 15 runs batted in. Dillon Branderhorst has 12 hits with a .293 batting average and has 11 runs batted in with four doubles which leads the team. Cline has four stolen bases and leads the team in runs scored with 11. Jason Holwerda is batting .313 with 10 hits.
Isaac Vander Hart has pitched 15 innings and has a 1-1 record in four starts with a 5.17 earned run average and has 1 strikeouts. Cole Vande Vegte has 11 strikeouts in eight innings and Isaac Buteyn has a 1-2 record in three starts with a team high 20 strikeouts. Luke Drooger has pitched 11 innings and is 1-1 with six strikeouts.
The two teams split their meetings last season on April 12 with Doane winning the opener 9-1 and the Defenders came back to secure a 1-0 win in the nightcap as Luke Drooger went the distance and scattered three hits and two walks while striking out five. Doane’s Caleb Goedeken earned the decision in the opener and allowed four hits.
Dordt is scheduled to host Midland on Friday, March 29 starting at 4:00.
