Baseball On Road For Friday Morning Doubleheader

Dordt will travel to face Dakota Wesleyan in Sioux Falls. South Dakota at Ronken Field (Augustana’s home field) on Friday, March 22. The GPAC doubleheader will begin at 10:00 AM. The games were originally scheduled to be played in Mitchell, South Dakota but were move due to wet fields.


Dakota Wesleyan is 7-11 this season and 2-2 in the GPAC after splitting with Mount Marty on March 16 and 17.  The Tigers were swept by Mount Marty on March 16 and turned around and swept the Lancers on March 17. Wesleyan scored one run each in the first three games against Mount Marty and secured a 1-0 win in one of those three games.  The second win for Mount Marty on March 17 came by a 9-5 margin.

Drew Demers has a team high 25 hits with a .424 batting average and he has two doubles and a team high six stolen bases. Chandler Bakley has 24 hits and a .393 batting average with a 12 runs batted in.  Wes Anderson has five stolen bases and three doubles and Reed Harter has a homerun with a team high 13 runs batted in. Demers leads the team with 15 runs scored and Bakley has scored 12 times.

Dominique Boerger is 3-1 with a 2.03 earned run average and leads the team with 26 innings pitched and has struck out 25 batters. Ethan Davis has 22 strikeouts and a 2.74 earned run average with 23 innings pitched.


Dordt is 3-8 this season and 0-4 in the GPAC after facing Morningside in four games on March 14 and 15 in Tucson, Arizona. 

Logan Cline has had a hot start to the season with a .429 batting average and has a team high 18 hits with three doubles and 14 runs batted in. Dillon Branderhorst has 11 hits with a .324 batting average and has 11 runs batted in with four doubles which leads the team.  Cline has three stolen bases and shares team honors in runs scored with nine. Jason Holwerda is batting .320 with eight hits and David Laurenti and Cam Pfafman each have six hits with Laurenti knocking in eight runs.

Isaac Vander Hart has pitched 14 innings and has a 1-0 record in three starts with a 3.86 earned run average and has ten stirkeouts. Cole Vande Vegte has ten strikeouts in eight innings and Isaac Buteyn has a 1-1 record in two starts with a 2.79 earned run average and nine innings pitched. Luke Drooger has pitched 11 innings and is 1-1 with six strikeouts.


Dordt and Dakota Wesleyan played a pair of doubleheaders on March 30 and April 2 last year and the two teams split both of those doubleheaders. Dordt won the first game on March 30 3-1 but Wesleyan came back with an 11-2 win in the nightcap. On April 2 the Tigers won the first game 5-1 and Dordt bounced back to win 6-2.


Dordt is scheduled to host Doane on Saturday, March 23 and will host Midland on Friday, March 29.
