(Friday, March 15; Sioux Center, Iowa) Joshua Wieting, a senior at James Valley Christian (South Dakota), has announced his intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.
Wieting averaged 18.4 points per game with 3.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.0 steals per game for James Valley Christian. He claimed 281 Conference MVP honors this season and was helped his team to a conference championship. He's listed as a 5-10 guard.
"We are looking forward to Josh being a part of our program. As a point guard, he will do a great job in leading our program, and making everyone else better around him. He is a great fit at Dordt," said Dordt coach Brian Van Haaften.
Joshua is the son of Terry and Lori Wieting of Huron, South Dakota. He plans to study Business Administration at Dordt.
Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
