(Friday, March 8; Sioux Center, Iowa) Bianca Van Berkel, a senior at Unity Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender dance team.
Bianca has studied dance at Robin's School of Dance in Sioux Center, Iowa, and has been a part of the Unity dance team for four years. She's been awarded the five and ten year awards at Robin's and will receive her 15 year award this year. She served as Unity's captain as a senior and received the Golden Dancer Award at the Dordt Dance Camp this year as well. She was on a team that claimed a Division I ranking her freshman year, first second and third at state her sophomore season, a third place finish as a junior and a fifth place finish and Division I ranking as a senior.
"I have had the opportunity to get to teach Bianca for many years at Robin's School of Dance. I am looking forward to this new opportunity to get to coach her next year on the Dordt Dance Team and to see how she will grow during her time here at Dordt! Bianca will be a great addition to our team next year, and I am looking forward to continuing to work with her!" said Dordt dance coach Mel Knobloch.
Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
