Van Lingen And Bussard Claim Scholar-Athlete Honors

(Tuesday, March 12; Sioux Center, Iowa) The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced 179 men’s basketball student-athletes have been named 2019 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Josh Van Lingen (Junior; Sioux Center, Iowa) and Zach Bussard (Junior; Papillion, Nebraska) were included on the list.

Both Van Lingen and Bussard appeared in all 32 games for the Defenders this season and Bussard earned all-GPAC honorable mention honors.  Van Lingen is studying Accounting and Bussard Engineering.

In order to be nominated by an institution  a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for the honor.
