(Tuesday, February 19; Sioux Center, Iowa) Diane Hurst, a senior at Lampasas High School (Texas), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender basketball program.
Hurst, a 6-1 forward, averaged 15 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.4 blocked shots for Lampasas. She was a first-team all-district pick last season and was named to various all-tournament teams through course of her career. She's a 1,000 career point scorer and helped her team to a 29-7 record this season.
"Diane is an excellent addition to our 2019 recruiting class! We are excited to have a 6-1 Forward from Texas joining our program. Her dedication, work ethic, and competitiveness is going to impact our program immediately. Can’t wait to for her to be on campus this Fall," said Dordt basketball coach Bill Harmsen.
Diane is the daughter of Tami and Daryl Hurst of Lampasas, Texas. She plans to study Communication at Dordt.
Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine, Forbes.com, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
