(Monday, February 4; Sioux Center, Iowa) Katherine Kooiman, a senior at Valley Christian High School (California), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the Defender soccer program.
Kooiman has scored five goals this season for Valley Christian and has an assist. She scored two goals and had six assists in Fall 2018 for Santa Clara Sporting. She's played varsity soccer for four years for Valley Christian and was on a 2016-17 Cal North State Cup Champion team. In 2017-18 her club team competed in the Youth Soccer National League and she has helped Santa Clara Sporting compete in the Surf Cup the last four years. Kooiman has played forward during her career.
Katherine is the daughter of Jeff and Cher Kooiman of San Jose, California. She plans to study Nursing at Dordt.
Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
