(Wednesday, January 23; Sioux Center, Iowa) Joanna Richards,  a senior at Omaha Christian Academy (Nebraska), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the women's basketball program.

Richards is a 5-8 guard and earned all-conference first-team honors three times in basketball and was a three-time all-conference performer in volleyball as well while claiming honorable mention all-state honors in that sport.

“We’re excited to announce the addition of Joanna Richards to our basketball program.  Joanna has proven to be a leader both on and off the court and her athleticism will transfer over well to the college game.  We can’t wait to have her playing at the college level and the impact that she will have our program," said Dordt coach Bill Harmsen.

Joanna is the daughter of Jim and Julie Richards of Omaha, Nebraska.  She plans to study Psychology at Dordt.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
