Men's Volleyball Opens Season

Graceland played St. Ambrose on Thursday night and went 1-25 last season with its lone win coming over Culver Stockton by a 3-2 match score. Brandon Kampshoff put down 2.03 kills per set for a team that averaged just under 10 kills per set. Matt Romero had a 1.93 kills per set average and Keone Coronado is averaging 1.8 kills per outing.  Georgi Georgiev and Naone Passi split the setting responsibilities last season with 4.7 and 3.6 assists per set respectively.  Kimo Rosa had a team high 28 service aces.


This is the season opener for the Defenders after posting a 2-18 record and Dordt was 2-10 in the league.

Dordt’s top returner is Ben Tiemersma with a 2.57 kills per set average with a .155 kill efficiency. Tyler Postma had a 6.11 assists per set average to go with 1.51 digs. Austen Scammon got to 1.08 digs per set last season and Tiemersma also recorded 1.49 digs per set last season.


Dordt last played Graceland in men’s volleyball in 2017 with Graceland winning both matches. The first meeting of the two was on March 18 and Graceland won it 3-2 as Danny Ly put down a match high 30 kills and Silila Tucker put up 65 assists. Ben Tiemersma had 13 kills in that loss and Postma put up 35 assists.

The two teams played again on April 1, 2017 and Graceland won at home 3-0 with Ly getting 14 kills and Tiemersma again led Dordt with 10 while Cobi Jones put 21 assists.
