Hockey Resumes Season With Three Road Contests

On the Docket…

Dordt will face Augustana (Illinois) on Thursday at 7:00 and will meet Hope on Friday at 7:30.  The Blades conclude the trip against Notre Dame on Saturday night in South Bend, Indiana at 10:00.

The Foes…

Augustana is located in Rock Island, Illinois and is a member of the ACHA Division II.  Augustana is 1-15 this season and has been outscored 115-32.  Brandon Maize leads the team with nine goals and eight assists while Kyle Parker has four goals and seven assists and Michael Fournier has five goals this season. Augustana has played four different goaltenders over the course of this season with Jacob Bayer getting the bulk of the minutes and he has made 144 saves.

Hope is 16-2-1 this season and is the defending ACHA Division III national champion. The Holland, Michigan school has outscored teams 132-50.  Bradley Baysore leads the team with 21 goals and 16 assists. Austen Peterson has 16 goals and 20 assists and Maxwell Mones has 14 goals and 14 assists. Austin Kane is 16-2 in net and has allowed 45 goals in 1053 minutes and has made 480 saves.

Notre Dame is 7-6-1 this season and is a member of the ACHA Division III.  The Fighting Irish have been outscored 59-55.  Alec Arsenio has a team leading 10 goals with eight assists and Bryce Tournat has six goals and 10 assists.  David Wendel contributes four goals and 11 assists. Noah Wamble has played in goal for all 855 minutes this season and has allowed 59 goals and made 372 saves.

The Blades…

The Blades are are 0-6-2-0 this season and haven’t been in action since December 1 due to cancellations by opposing teams. These three games will be the first of nine games played after the semester break.

The Blades are led by Mark Schouten’s six goals this season and he has two assists. Eli Visscher, Rylan Brue and Jaren Brue all have three goals and Caleb Groot has four goals scored. Seth Vandergugten tops the team with five assists.

Sam Kingma, David Burns and Bryce Andry have split the goal keeping. Kingma has allowed 16 goals in 188 minutes with 113 saves. Burns has 25 goals allowed in 206 minutes with 167 saves and Andry has played 209 minutes with 138 saves and 25 goals allowed.

What’s Next…

The Blades are off until January 25 and 26 when they host Missouri State.  The following weekend is a split weekend with Dordt on the road Friday night against Nebraska and at home on Saturday, February 2 against Nebraska in a 1:00 start.
