Oostenink To Attend Dordt

(Monday, January 14: Sioux Center, Iowa) Payton Oostenink, a senior at Western Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt and join the dance program.

Oostenink is currently serving as Western's dance team captain and has qualified for All-Iowa and All-American honors.  She has been part of teams that earned first place in the Lights Division at state competition and Western has earned Division 1 ratings four straight years with Oostenink on the team.  She's been at Robin's School of dance for nine years and has choreographed three different routines for Western.

“I am very excited that Payton has chosen to attend Dordt next year and to continue dancing in college. I have had the opportunity to teach her for several years at Robin’s School of Dance, and I am now looking forward to coach her on the team instead! She is a very talented dancer with a great work ethic and positive attitude. I know she will be a great addition to our team next year," said Dordt dance coach Mel Knobloch.

Payton is the daughter of Heath and Paula Oostenink of Hull, Iowa. She plans to study Communication at Dordt.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). 

U.S. News & World Report, Money Magazine,, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,500 students.
