(Friday, December 7; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender women’s volleyball team was voted no. 7 in the NAIA Women’s Volleyball Coaches’ Postseason poll released earlier this week.
The Defenders totaled 430 points in the balloting done by 19 coaches representing each of the conferences, Association of Independent Institutions and Unaffiliated Groups.
"This season has been so memorable and meaningful due to the closeness of relationships for everyone, the competitive success we had along the way, and the feelings of support from our friends, families, and fans. Our aim was to present our best effort to honor Christ while representing Dordt College. Our no. 7 national rank finish is appreciated,” said Dordt College coach Chad Hanson.
Dordt finished the season at the NAIA National Championship in Sioux City, Iowa last week and advanced to the quarterfinal round of elimination play before dropping a contest to the eventual national champion runner-up.
The Defenders finished the season with a 31-3 record and was one of five GPAC teams in the final poll. All three of Dordt’s losses came at the hands of teams in the top-13 of the final poll.
