(Wednesday; November 28; Sioux Center, Iowa) The Dordt College Defender men’s basketball team is no. 21 in the first in-season coaches’ poll released on November 27.
Dordt took 74 points after posting an 8-2 record to start the season.
The Defenders stand 2-1 in GPAC play and will face Northwestern on Wednesday, November 28 and Jamestown on Saturday, December 1.
Dordt’s two losses this season are to Graceland (NAIA I receiving votes) and no. 4 Morningside.
Dordt is one of four teams from the Great Plains Athletic Conference in the poll with Morningside no. 4; Briar Cliff no. 8 and Hastings no. 19. Dakota Wesleyan is in the receiving votes category of the poll.
The poll is voted on by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences and the Association of Independent Institutions. The next poll is the final poll released in 2018 with the voting resuming for a January 9 compilation.
