(Monday, November 26; Sioux Center, Iowa) Bethany Ten Haken, a senior at Milaca High School (Minnesota) has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender cross country and track programs.
Ten Haken has qualified for the Minnesota State Track and Field Championships three straight years and has placed in the Class A 800 meters all three years. She has a personal best of 2:17.44 which is a school record and she placed fourth twice at the state meet and fifth as a freshman. Ten Haken has won the Granite Ridge Conference 800 meter title three times and the Section 5A title twice. She's also run on two state qualifying 4x800 meter relay teams. Her personal best on a 5,000 meter cross country course is 20:57. She's claimed all-conference honors in both track and cross country.
"I am excited to have Bethany join our cross country and track & field programs at Dordt. She is a talented and competitive runner who has had great success each year in high school. I look for her to continue to build on that success as part of the middle distance program at Dordt. She is a fantastic fit for our program and institution. I look forward to seeing her impact Dordt University and am excited to be able to work with her the next four years," said Dordt College head cross country and assistant track and field coach Nate Wolf.
Bethany is the daughter of Michael and Jessica Ten Haken. She plans to study Education at Dordt College.
Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. The Defender athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).
