Football At Dakota Wesleyan Saturday

Dakota Wesleyan is 1-5 this season and 0-4 in the GPAC.

The Tigers have a win over Presentation to its credit and its last two losses have come by a single score to Briar Cliff and Concordia, both on the road the last two weeks. 

Dakota Wesleyan has been outscored 205-130 this season and have gained 411 yards per game on offense while giving up 463.

Luke Loudenburg has run for 321 yards on 102 carries and Shaye Slaughter has gained 112 yards. The two have three and two touchdown runs respectively. Slaughter has completed 101-215 passes for 294 yards per game and has six touchdown passes and eight interceptions. Spencer Neugebauer has caught 37 passes for 534 yards and a 14.4 yards per catch average with two touchdown catches. Jonny Withrow and Daniel Libolt have 31 and 30 catches respectively and Libolt has four touchdown receptions.

Sam Naasz has a 38.1 yards per punt average on 34 punts and Tate Gale is 6-8 on field goals with a long of 39 and he is 7-12 on point after tries.

Dillon Rork and Trey De Croock have two interceptions each and Emmanuel Christopher has four sacks. Tyler Wagner is the leading tackler with 42 this season and Eathen Gaulke has 41.


The Defenders are 3-2 this season after a 40-28 loss at the hands of Northwestern last week. 

Dordt has outscored teams 203-140 through five games.  The Defenders are averaging 435 yards of offense with 408 allowed.  Dordt gets 269 on the ground and 167 in the air.

Keithen Drury has 78 rushes for 392 yards and five touchdowns.  Levi Schoonhoven has 58 rushes for 364 yards and six touchdowns. Brock Lamle has 170 yards rushing and has 46 pass completions with 10 touchdowns.  Levi Jungling has 22 receptions for 20.1 yards and three touchdowns. Jake Dodge has nine receptions for 13.2 yards per catch with two touchdowns. Matthew Oh-Slack has five catches for 20.2 per reception and two touchdowns.

Casey Byker has punted 18 times for a 35.6 average and Brett Gaines is 5-6 on field goals with a long of 39. Gaines is also 24-25 on point after tries. 

Connor Bosma has been in on 40 tackles while Nathan Kabongo has 35 with a pair of interceptions. Jordan Weiland has 35 tackles with 1.5 sacks and Dordt’s other interception. Byker has 34 tackles with four for loss.  Josh Mrazek has 9.5 tackles for loss and Julius Buchanan has 5.5 and David Kacmarynski has 7.5 tackles for loss. Tyson Dahlgrin has 2.5 sacks while Kacmarynski and Buchanan each have three.   


Concordia scored two early touchdowns and then held on as Dakota Wesleyan came back to within 14-9 with a touchdown in the fourth quarter. Dakota Wesleyan outgained Concordia 349-330 as Wesleyan was limited to 29 yards rushing on 25 attempts. Pohlen was 31-49 passing with a touchdown and two interceptions. Neugebauer had 12 catches for 227 yards and Withrow had seven catches for 41 yards.

Dordt lost to Northwestern on Saturday in Orange City 40-28.  The Defenders led 28-21 midway through the third quarter but allowed drives of 62, 55 and 99 yards to Northwestern and the Raiders secured the win with a touchdown to go up two scores with 1:13 left in the game. Dordt had 311 yards with 201 on the ground. Drury ran for 106 yards and Lamle had 41. Lamle passed for 110 yards and Jungling caught six passes for 96 yards.  Byker had a fumble return for a touchdown and Kabongo had an interception.  Weiland accounted for nine tackles while Mrazek and Bosma each had seven.


These two have been involved in some wild games with Dakota Wesleyan prevailing last season by a 62-52 margin in Mitchell.  Dordt had 697 yards of offense and allowed 612.  Keithen Drury ran for 157 yards on 12 carries and Jungling had 95 yards and Schoonhoven 53. Drury and Jungling had runs of 98 and 94 yards for scores. Brock Lamle passed for 415 yards on 23-40 success and Jungling had 14 catches for 281 yards and three scores. Dakota Wesleyan’s Dillon Turner ran for 108 yards on 24 carries and scored twice. Turner completed 28 passes with three touchdowns for 386 yards. Hayden Adams had 14 catches for 228 yards and all three receiving touchdowns.


Dordt will host Jamestown on October 20 and Briar Cliff on October 27 in the final two home games of the season.

Dakota Wesleyan is scheduled to go to Midland on October 20.
