Dordt def. Northwestern 3-2
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt took on Northwestern in a hard-fought 60 minutes on Wednesday night, and it was the Defenders holding off the Red Raiders in a 3-2 win.
The scoring came early and often for the Defenders as Jori Bronner scored her sixth goal of the year less than two minutes into the game. At the 35-minute mark, Avril Baccam netted her team-leading 15th goal of the season on a shot from the middle of the penalty area.
Northwestern started to fight their way back into the game as Julie Dunlap found the back of the goal and made the score 2-1. The Red Raiders tied the game 2-2 in the 74th minute as Emily Hurley scored on Josie Maasdam's assist.
With less than 10 minutes to go, Avril Baccam had her shot deflect off of the goalkeeper and Jori Bronner got the rebound and putback attempt to give Dordt a late lead. The Defenders held off a late Northwestern attack and secured their eighth win of the year.
Jori Bronner scored two goals and had one assist
