Midland def. Dordt 8-7

The Dordt Defender baseball team’s season came to an end with an 8-7 loss in game two of its doubleheader with Midland in Fremont, Nebraska on Saturday.

The Defenders had a 3-2 lead after a two run fourth inning and pushed the lead to 4-2 after six innings.

Midland came back with two in the seventh and four in the eighth for an 8-4 lead.  Dordt made it interesting with three in the ninth inning.  Dordt did their damage with two outs as Austin Pullar walked and Logan Cline doubled him in. Chase Edwards then homered for the seventh time this season to get Dordt within one but a strikeout ended the game.

Aaron Eshelman was 2-3 with two runs batted in and a run scored.

Cline, Lucas Nelson, Eshelman and Nick Hamilton all had doubles for the Defenders and Dordt stranded six.

Dordt used four pitchers with Diego Benitez going five innings with two earned runs allowed and five strikeouts.

Dordt ends their season 16-30 overall and 9-19 in league play.
