Concordia def. Dordt 82-59
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defenders lost a road contest on Saturday afternoon to Concordia in GPAC play and fell to 1-2 in GPAC play with the 82-59 loss.
The early stages of the contest were back and forth with Dordt leading 9-8 on a Caleb Harmsen three-point shot. The score was still tied 13-13 after Jacob Vis made a pair of free throws. Concordia outscored Dordt 10-0 over the next 3:30 to take control of the game and led 35-19 at halftime.
The lead grew to 20 in the second half with 18:29 left in the game at 41-21. Dordt made one charge and got to within 49-37 after a Bryce Coppock basket with 13:27 remaining and Dordt got no closer.
THE NUMBERS
Dordt was 22-61 from the field for 36 percent and was 7-28 from the three-point line for 25 percent success.
Concordia was 31-72 from the field for 43 percent and 14-34 from the three-point line.
Concordia outrebounded Dordt 44-36.
Garrett Franken converted 17 points with four rebounds and two assists.
Bryce Coppock and Jacob Vis each had seven points and Ben Gesink and Jesse Jansma each had six. Jansma had a team high five assists.
Dejay Fykstra had six rebounds while Gesink and Jansma had five rebounds each.
Dordt is 5-2 overall and 1-2 in the GPAC.
Concordia is 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the GPAC.
