Mayville State def. Dordt 10-5

HOW IT HAPPENED

Five first inning runs by the Mayville State Comets sent them to a 10-5 win over the Dordt Defenders in non-conference baseball this afternoon in Tucson, Arizona.

The Defenders were down 6-0 before breaking through with a Luis Camacho homerun in the fourth inning.

Mayville State added a run in the fifth inning before Dordt countered with two each in the sixth and seventh innings.  Camacho scored in the sixth inning on a ground ball out to the first baseman with the bases loaded and Andrew Pullar knocked a single to get Logan Cline across.

Dordt got two more in the seventh with Austin Pullar and Parker Hamann scoring. Hamann came in to score on a double by Logan Cine to get the lead down to 7-5.

Mayville State ended the game with a run in the eighth and two more in the ninth for the 10-5 final.

THE NUMBERS

Both teams had nine hits.

Cline was 3-4 at the plate with a run scored and a run batted in. He had two doubles and a single.

Andrew Pullar and Luis Camacho each had two hits with Camacho scoring two runs.

Dordt used six pitchers. Caleb Pollema went two and a third innigs and was charged with two hits and one run. Aiden Urbom allowed a hit and a run in two innings and Peyton Stockwell pitched two shutout innings with one hit allowed.
