Dordt defeats Lincoln 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-8)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Dordt controlled its non-conference match with Lincoln on Saturday afternoon from start to finish for a convincing 3-0 win in Sioux Center.
The Defenders took the lead for good in set one at 7-6 as part of a 7-0 run that ended at 11-6 in Dordt’s favor. Lucas Nelson had a pair of kills to help the Defenders’ cause in the run and Dordt maintainted at least a four point run the rest of the set on the way to a 25-19 win.
Dordt pushed in front in set two with a Nelson kill at 8-7 and led by steadily increased the lead to 25-17 for the final, scoring their final three points on a Garret Vander Zee kill, a Caleb Kulesza kill and an attack error by Lincoln.
Set three was all Dordt with the Defenders leading 10-3 and the hosts closed the set with a 7-2 run for the 25-8 final.
Dordt had a 44-16 kill advantage and hit for a .307 kill efficiency.
The Defenders had five service aces and Lincoln had one. Both teams had 10 service errors.
Dordt had a 37-24 dig advantage.
Vander Zee had a match high 16 kills and Kulesza had 12.
Tyler Postma put up 33 assists and had seven digs.
Levi Ewald had 11 digs and three service aces while Caleb Brandsma had two service aces.
Dordt is now 5-9 while Lincoln is 2-16.
Dordt will face Mount Mercy on Thursday, March 12, Clarke on Friday, March 13 and St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Saturday, March 14.
