Dakota Wesleyan def. Dordt 7-4
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt Defenders overcame a 3-1 deficit to lead briefly late in the contest with Dakota Wesleyan but lost 7-4 in the non-conference GPAC doubleheader.
Dakota Wesleyan scored a run in the second inning and Dordt answered in the home half of the inning when Hannah Sikkema scored on a passed ball.
Dakota Wesleyan came back with two runs in the fifth inning for a 3-1 lead.
The Defenders eventually struck for three runs in the sixth inning with a double by Marissa Vanden Berg knocking in two with a double and Emma Veenstra got Vanden Berg in with a single.
The lead was short lived with Wesleyan scoring four runs on three hits in the seventh inning and the Defenders were retired in order for the 7-4 final.
Dakota Wesleyan out hit Dordt 7-4.
Marissa Vanden Berg had three hits with two doubles and two runs batted in.
Hannah Sikkema and Brooklyn Van Oort each had two singles and Emma Veenstra had Dordt’s other hit with a stolen base.
Abby Kraemer took the loss with seven runs allowed on 11 hits with five strikeouts and walked none.
Dordt is 12-6 this season and is 1-1 in GPAC play.
