HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dordt University hockey team suffered a 9-6 loss to Creighton on Saturday. It was Dordt's final regular season game of the 2019-2020 season. 

The Defenders came into the matchup 1-2 on the year against Creighton with the 5-4 win coming on November 22.

The first period was back-and-forth for the entire 20 minutes with both teams scoring twice. Colin Price and Eli Visscher found the back of the net for the Defenders. 

Creighton broke the game open in the second period and scored four goals. Spencer Van Ravensway managed to score once for Dordt, but the Defenders went into the third period trailing 6-3. 

Dordt scored three more goals in third, but couldn't slow down Creighton who also scored three. Logan Visser, Jaren Brue and Kyle Laarman all found the back of the net, but it wasn't enough and the Defenders fell 9-6. 

UP NEXT

The Defenders will head to Springfield, MO this weekend (2/14-2/15) to begin playoff action. Seeding is not yet determined.
