Dordt def. Mount Marty 107-82

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dordt Defender men’s basketball team converted better than 60 percent of its field goals on the way to a 107-82 win in Sioux Center over the Mount Marty Lancers in GPAC play on Tuesday night.

The Defenders trailed early on, getting behind 20-11 with 12:08 left in the first half and the Lancers maintained the lead 30-27 with 6:40 left in the half. A Ben Gesink three-point shot tied the game and the junior guard buried another three-point shot for a 33-30 edge at the 5:30 mark.  Cade Bleeker continued the Dordt run with a basket and Gesink was fouled on a three-point attempt to cap what ended up being an 11 point run with three made free throws at the 4:04 mark of the half.

Garrett Franken converted a three-point shot to end the half and Dordt had built the lead to 51-39.

Nine straight points by the Defenders opened a 60-39 advantage and were never challenged in getting the lead to as many as 30 before settling for the 107-82 final.
