Concordia def. Dordt 69-55


The Concordia Bulldogs used a run in the first half and another to end the game to turn away the Dordt Defenders on Saturday afternoon in Seward, Nebraska, 69-55.

The Defenders grabbed a 14-11 lead on a pair of Erika Feenstra free throws with 2:55 left in the first quarter but Concordia reeled off the next nine points in a row to lead 20-14 at the conclusion of the quarter.

The Defenders were never able to make a serious run at the Bulldogs in the second quarter and trailed 41-30 at the end of the half.

Both teams struggled to score in the third quarter with Dordt unable to seriously dent the lead and trailed by eight when the quarter ended.

An Ebby Prewitt three-point basket with 9:31 left in the game got the Defenders to within five and Jordyn Van Maanen had a steal and basket with 8:18 to continue the run.  Rachel Evavold converted a basket in the lane with 7:50 remaining for a 51-50 deficit and less than a minute later the Defenders got a basket by Baylee Tetzlaff for a 52-51 lead.

Dordt got a stop on defense on the ensuing possession but never had a chance to build on the lead as a turnover led to a Concordia basket and the host effectively closed out the game with a 10-0 run over the next three minutes.


Ebby Prewitt had a season high 13 points for the Defenders and she had six rebounds.

Rachel Evavold and Erika Feenstra had nine and eight points each and Evavold had seven rebounds.

Karly Gustafson added seven points and  five rebounds and Baylee Tetzlaff had six points and seven rebounds.

Dordt was 22-60 from the field and was limited to 5-24 three-point shooting.

Concordia was 26-75 from the field and 8-25 from the arc.

Dordt had a 52-40 rebounding edge.

Dordt is 14-3 this season and 6-3 in the league.

Concordia is 9-0 in the conference and 14-1 overall.


Dordt will host Mount Marty on Wednesday, January 8.
