SCORE

Dordt def. Briar Cliff 93-58

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dordt Defender women’s basketball team used a stifling defense and overcome a sluggish start and foul trouble to secure a 93-58 win over Briar Cliff in Sioux Center on Saturday afternoon, November 23.

The Defenders trailed 15-14 after one quarter but used its depth to take control of the game in the second quarter.  A Gabby Kreykes asket to start the second quarter gave Dordt the lead for good and the Defenders scored the first 10 points of the quarter to get up 24-15.

A three-point basket by Kenzie Cunard pushed Dordt’s lead to 27-17 and the Defenders were off and running, outscoring the Chargers 29-10 in the second quarter to lead 43-25 at halftime.  The lead continued to mushroom as Dordt put another 28 on the board in the third quarter and led 71-41 after three quarters.

Briar Cliff never made a run at the Defenders in the second half and Dordt won its ninth game in 10 tries to improve to 3-1 in the GPAC.
