Hastings def. Dordt 3-0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-23)


The Hastings College Broncos earned an upset win over the Dordt Defenders in GPAC volleyball action on Friday night in Hastings, Nebraska with a 3-0 win at Lynn Farrell Arena.

The Broncos overcame an early two point deficit and scored six points in a row to take control of set one 11-6.  Dordt got as close as three but a seven point run pushed the lead to 21-11 and the hosts won it 25-12.

Hastings got up in set two 10-4 and the Defenders were never able to seriously dent the lead and the Broncos won 25-11 for the 2-0 set lead.

The Defenders were able to rebound and take an 11-6 lead in set three and still led 13-7 when the Broncos fought back to tie the set at 14-14. The two teams were tied 17-17 after a block by Ally Krommendyk and Corrina Timmermans but the Broncos built up a three point lead and were up 23-20.

A Krommendyk kill followed by a block and a Jori Bronner kill tied the set at 23-23 but an attack error by the Defenders put Hastings up 24-23 and they went on to win 25-23 on a block.


The Defenders had 25 attack errors and hit for a .009 kill efficiency.

The hosts hit .306 for the match and had 12 errors.

Hastings had an 8-7 points on blocks advantage. Both teams had two ace serves.

Ally Krommendyk had eight kills and Jessi De Jager seven while Timmermans added six.

Hannah Connelly had eight digs and Megan Raszler six to go with 20 assists.


Dordt is now 8-6 in the GPAC and 17-9 overall.  Hastings is 5-9 and 10-14.


Dordt will face Doane in Crete, Nebraska on Saturday. Doane is 7-7 in the league and 16-11 overall.
