HOW IT HAPPENED
The Dordt women's soccer team tied Concordia 2-2 on Saturday. The tie kept the Defenders conference win streak alive.
Concordia's Jaiden Beecher broke the deadlock 11 minutes into the game off of an assist from Allee Downing.
Claire Jansen tied things at one in the 35th minute. Beecher scored her second of the game eight minutes later to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.
Rachel Zuidema tied the game in the 84th minute thanks to a Katherine Kooiman assist. Both teams had chances over the final five minutes, but couldn't break the tie.
Overtime presented each team with numerous chances, but the extra twenty minutes weren't enough to break the deadlock.
DeLynne Zevenbergen had four saves in the tie.
Dordt and Concordia each had 15 shots.
Carley Lindsey had five saves for the Bulldogs.
The tie put Concordia's record at 2-6-1.
COACH MCMILLAN SAID
"The ladies battled today. Concordia created good chances and so did we. If we keep battling like this, we will hopefully keep growing and improving. It is sometimes tough to tie in the end, but we're pleased with how we played."
Dordt will play College of Saint Mary next Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in Omaha.
