The Dordt College men's volleyball team bounced back after a difficult stretch of games over spring break with a 3-0 win over Viterbo on Wednesday.

Viterbo defeated Dordt on March 16 in five sets, but withstanding the V-Hawks runs proved to be the key for Dordt on Monday.

Dordt took a 10-7 lead early in the opening set. Viterbo cut the score to 13-12 and Dordt recovered. The Defenders scored three unanswered points and never let the V-Hawks retake the lead. Coach Hanson was forced to call a timeout when the score was 22-20, but the Defenders held on for a 25-22 victory.

Dordt let Viterbo take a 12-11 lead midway through set two. The Defenders responded with a 7-1 run to take an 18-13 lead. The V-Hawks never got closer than three points and Dordt took set two 25-18.

Set three was all in the hands of Dordt. A few fortunate bounces at the beginning of the set gave Dordt momentum. A 11-4 run to start the set provided the necessary cushion. Dordt continued to pull away and won 25-17.

Garret Vander Zee carried Dordt with 12 kills and ten digs.

Ben Tiemersma added six kills and eight digs.

Tyler Postma led Dordt with 21 assists.

Chris Kahler had 13 kills and five digs for the V-Hawks,

Andrew Lepage had 21 assists in the loss.

Dordt will take on Ottawa in Sioux Center tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.
