The Dordt College baseball team defeated Nebraska Wesleyan 14-8 for the second win of the team's Arizona trip. 

Dordt starting pitcher Isaac Buteyn held the Prairie Wolves scoreless through the first four innings. 

The Defenders had chances to score in the first two innings, but left runners on second in both. Dordt capitalized on chances in the third inning and scored seven runs. 

Jason Holwerda hit a double that sent Logan Cline home. Holwerda scored off of a bases-loaded walk. Dillon Branderhorst doubled to left-center and cleared the bases scoring Austin Pullar, Cody Veach and David Laurenti. 

Lucas Nelson scored Branderhorst off of an infield single. The Defenders went through their entire lineup giving Cline a chance to bat again. He doubled to center and sent Nelson home. A strikeout ended the inning for Dordt and left two runners stranded on base. 

Both teams were held scoreless in the fourth inning. 

Nebraska Wesleyan managed four runs in the top of the fifth. Dordt's Buteyn was replaced on the mound by Chris Schrieber. After the first three batters were walked, a wild throw by Andrew Pullar scored Zach Plummer. A dropped fly ball scored Aaron Nichols, Spencer Scheer and Tyler Winterstein. Riley Ward grounded out to short to end the rally. 

The Prairie Wolves scored twice more in the top of the sixth to pull within one. Scheer singled to left field and set Jackson Cummins along with Plummer home. 

Dordt had another seven run inning in the bottom of the sixth to break the game open. Branderhorst hit another double that scored Austin Pullar and Cody Beach. A drop by Plummer sent Branderhorst home. Cam Pfafman hit a double to left center and Andrew Pullar scored. Three errors by Nebraska Wesleyan scored Pfafman, Cline and Holwerda to cap off the seven run inning. 

Nebraska Wesleyan scored twice more in the top of the eighth, but it wasn't enough and Dordt walked away with the 14-8 victory. 


Isaac Buteyn was credited with the win. Chris Schreiber, Austin Fokkema and Nate Psyck also saw time on the mound.

Five different players had two hits for the Defenders. 

Dillon Branderhorst led Dordt with five RBI. 


Connor Cech, Trey Pavlik and Tucker McHugh all pitched for the Prairie Wolves. 

Evan Gellatly had three RBI to lead his team. 

Spencer Scheer and Zach Plummer each had two hits. 


Dordt will face off against Morningside on Thursday at 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. CT.
